I am currently trying to find some ancestors that came from around the Gamlakarleby, Finland area. In particular is Emil Anders Rasmus b. Feb. 14, 1884. Mother Johanna Lasso (Fasso??) Father Anders Rasmus. Emil Anders Rasmus and his Brother Runnar Emil Rasmus both came to the USA and settled in Astoria, Oregon. Emil Anders Married a woman named Fanny Jacobson. Runnar Emil Rasmus married a woman named Martha Niemi. I am actually interested in the parents of Runnar emil rasmus and Emil Anders Rasmus. If anyone can help me. I would be greatly appreciative.
I have some friends in Nedervetil. The mother's maiden name is Rasmus. There are a couple of researchers on the west coast here that are in this line.
I'd suggest you also post this in Finlander Forum.
I don't recall the names of the researchers at the moment, maybe a Steele and a man named Larry.
PM me with an e-mail address if you want to see if I can put you in touch with them or the Rasmus line in Finland. There is an elderly Rasmus that moved from Karleby to Palos Verdes, California.
I´ve got some information on this family. Source: Church records

Are you sure, that Runar Rasmus and Emil Anders Rasmus were brothers? When did Martha Niemi and Runar Rasmus get married?
Here is mentioned a man named Runar Johansson Rasmus. Could it be him?
http://www.sydaby.eget.net/swe/edb_o-r.htm#r
"RASMUS, Runar Matias Johansson
b. 4 Mar 1913, Karleby, Finland To Canada 1930"

This might be the right one.

"Runnar Emil Rasmus
Birth: 4-10-1908 in Finland"
I just wonder: Maria Johanna (Hanna) Matintytär Hassinen, b. July 1, 1858, was nearly 50 years old.

Hey Raija,
That actually is my family tree that you are linking to, I am celestialangel97701. :D: What is your question about Maria Johanna? What do you mean nearly 50 years old?
Hey!
It is possible, that Maria Johanna. b. 1858, is Runar´s mother, even if it is not so usual to get babys in that age.
I¨m not able to check Runar´s birth in the Kaarlela parish birth and christening records for the year 1908, because records for that year are still missing in this archive (Jyväskylä).
National Archives of Finland may have those records already.

Hey everyone,
I apologize but I was just looking over my info again and realized that I made a mistake when writing my original post. Emil Anders Rasmus is actually the Father of Runnar Emil Rasmus. Runnars parents were Emil Anders Rasums and Fanny Olivia Jacobson. I was actually looking for the parents of Emil Anders Rasmus, which Raija helped me find. I'm sorry for the mixup. :oo:
