I’m trying to learn more about Olof Burman (www.geni.com/people/Olof-Burman/6000000048243967924 (https://www.geni.com/people/Olof-Burman/6000000048243967924)) who was born c 1692 in Södermanland, Sweden and died in 1786 in Tyrvää, Finland (source - Punkalaitumen talonhaltijaluettelo, by Lasse Iso-Iivari - http://users.utu.fi/isoi/talot/punkalai.htm). Apparently he was a member of the Uppland County Dragoon Regiment (source - www.geni.com/projects/Upplands-st%25C3%25A5ndsdragonregement<br/>e/37937<br/> (https://www.geni.com/projects/Upplands-st%25C3%25A5ndsdragonregemente/37937)) and, post its dissolution in 1721, a member of the Turku and Pori County Cavalry Regiment (source - www.geni.com/projects/Henkirakuunarykmentti-sek%25C3%25A4-Tu<br/>run-ja-Porin-l%25C3%25A4%25C3%25A4nin-ratsuv%25C3%25A4kirykm<br/>entti/43436<br/> (https://www.geni.com/projects/Henkirakuunarykmentti-sek%25C3%25A4-Turun-ja-Porin-l%25C3%25A4%25C3%25A4nin-ratsuv%25C3%25A4kirykmentti/43436)).

I’m curious if it is possible to learn anything more about this individual including, for example, his parentage or where, specifically, he originated in Södermanland. Any advice or assistance would be much appreciated. Kiitos!

I am also interested in Burman's parentage, parents, family and youth, as well as life in Sweden before moving to Finland. I hope someone can help us to find him in the Swedish archives?

Oluf Burman, aged 22, served 3 years, b. in Södermanland (also called Sörmland) , has a brown gelding (identification of horse follows) .


Has full kit excepting fodder sack, täckjord. horse covering, wiskeduck, axe and spade lost in Norway 29 November 1718. Scarf, shirt, gloves, trousers, socks, shoes and boots worn out.
Has been given a foraging sack. (Words in bold type are untranslated here).

I'm curious whether anyone knows if there are parish records available for Sodermanland, Sweden for the period c 1675-1700. I appreciate that it will depend on the specific parish, etc. However, when I've searched on Family Search I found no records from this time period and am not sure if this is because they do not exist or are just not digitized and indexed yet.

I'm still trying to identify prospective parents for Olof Burman b c 1697 in Sodermanland. The 2nd Swedish reference I have to him is as follows:

1721 – “Överstelöjtnantens kompani - Dragoner … Nr 117 Burman, Olof ¤ Född i Sörmland Sverige ¤ Finska enheten efter 1721 HRR Övl 121”
