I am seeking information on ancestors that emigrated to USA from Finland in late 1800s. I am interested in identifying other ancestors born in Finland, and identifying where my ancestors lived, occupations, etc. My Finnish ancestors appear to be from Pulkkila area.
Andrew (Antti Everet?) Leskinen, born about 1866 (Jun), emigrated to USA in about 1891 (possibly born in Pulkkila Leskelän_kyla Oulun Lääni).
Liisa (Sofia?) Pellikka, born about 1863 (Nov), emigrated to USA in 1896 (immigration form stated from "Oulan") (possibly born in Haapavesi Oulun Lääni).
Leskinen and Pellikka apparently were married in Finland, and emigrated to Hibbing area (St. Louis County) of Minnesota USA. 3 children born in Finland emigrated to USA with their parents:
Eli E. (Everett?) Leskinen, born 2 March 1888 in Pulkkila Finland, emigration date 1901 (possible name is Eelis Eevertti Antinp. Leskinen, born 1888, Pulkkila parish).
Katarina (Kate, Katie) Leskinen, born 26 Jan 1890 in Finland, emigrated to USA in 1896 (possible name is Kaisa Fredriika Leskinen b. 26 Jan 1890 in Pulkkila).
Sofia (Freda?) Leskinen, born Sep 1891 or 1892, emigrated to USA in 1896.
5 children born in the USA:
Fannie Marie Leskinen, born 1897 in Virginia Minnesota (I am the grandson of Fannie).
Emma Elizabeth Leskinen, born 1899 in Hibbing Minnesota.
Ida Leskinen, born 1901 in St Louis County Minnesota.
Andrew (Ted) Leskinen, born 1904 in Chisholm Minnesota.
Lillian Leskinen, born 1905 in Minnesota.
According to the emigrant register, on 15.6.1901, Aapo Leskinen, age 28, departed Hanko on Polaris (Cunard) accompanied by Ellis Leskinen, age 11 (I found corresponding entry for them at Ellis Island NYC, with notation they were bound for Hibbing MN). I suspect that Aapo Leskinen may be a brother or cousin of Andrew Leskinen.
The emigrant register states that a passport was issued in 1900 to Eelis Eevertti Antinp. Leskinen, born 1888, Pulkkila parish, OU province, occupation Taloll. pka.
The emigrant register states that on 16.5.1896, Liisa, Katarina and Sofia Leskinen departed Hanko on Urania (Allan Line) (I found corresponding entry for them via Quebec, with notation they were bound for Virginia MN).
I have tried the hiski website with no success.
I don't read any Finnish, so struggling with the online records.
Thank you for any help you can provide!
