Daniel Puolakka - Vyborg

Hej/Hello,

Jag försöker hitta föräldrarna till Daniel Puolakka född ca. 1837. Jag kan inte hitta Daniel i kyrkoböckerna för Vyborg. Men jag hittar honom när han gifter sig med Maria Elisabeth Wahlberg 1857 i Vyborg. Och att de där får barnen: August, Anna Sofia, Adam, Karolina. Men ingenting visar var ifrån Daniel kommer. Är han född i Viborg eller inflyttad? Vet någon i vilka böcker jag borde leta?

I am trying to find the parents of Daniel Puolakka born ca. 1837. I can not find Daniel in church records for Vyborg. But I can find him when he marries Maria Elisabeth Wahlberg in 1857 in Vyborg. I can also find their children: August, Anna Sofia, Adam, Karolina. But nothing shows where Daniel comes from. Is he born in Vyborg or immigrant? Does anyone know in what books I should look?

It is tricky to search people in Viipuri as part of the material (a very important part...) has been destroyed.

- it says
"Viipurin tuomiokirkkoseurakunnan rippikirjat vuosilta 1849–1930 ja historiakirjat (syntyneet, vihityt, kuolleet) vuosilta 1900–1939 tuhoutuivat talvisodan aikana." - the communion books between 1849-1930, history books (births, marraiges, deaths) between 1900-1939 were lost during the Winter War.

So it is bits and pieces you have to work with. You might try Henkikirjat - Mantalböcker, here in 1860, to find out at least the ages of Daniel and Maria Elisabet http://digihakemisto.appspot.com/edit?hakid=2111&kuvanumero=1014&ay=1734764&sartun=220835.KA&atun=273155.KA&amnimeke=Viipurin+l%C3%A4%C3%A4nin+henkikirjat&sarnimi=Henkikirjat&aynimi=Henkikirja+1860-1860+%28Vi%3A83%29&kuid=379711

I peeked and found out that there were Puolakkas in Viipuri town in 1838-48 http://digi.narc.fi/digi/view.ka?kuid=6954642 but it may be that Daniel had not passed the confirmation or was still growing somewhere else to be a farmhand (dräng).

And then about the name: Puolakka is often in the earlier books in form Puolack, Polacka, Polack, Polak. And there are people by this name (try HisKi) all over Finland. They are probably not from the same family originally, rather they start from many soldiers by the name Polack, and may and may not be Polish, who knows? Viipuri attracted people from all Finland.
