Hi,
According to the Finnish Church in Stockholm, my grandmother Anna Elise Wikström was born in Ingå/Inkoo 15 October 1906. According to living relatives she came from Kyrkslätt/Kirkkonummi.
In HisKi I can only find baptism records up until 1850 on Inkoo.
How do I proceed my research? I e where can I find info on her parents, etc. ?
Best regards
Stefan Norman
There are two net sources where you find newer communion books or history books of Finnish parishes, these
http://www.sukuhistoria.fi/sshy/index.htm
(digitized by private persons from rolls/micro fiches)
and this (digitized by National Archives)
http://digihakemisto.appspot.com/index_am?atun=248091.KA&amnimeke=Kyrksl%C3%A4tt+f%C3%B6rsamlings+arkiv
but neither of them reaches the 1906 baptized, sorry.
So the only way to find out if your grandmother was born in Kirkkonummi, is to write to the parish,
http://www.kyrkslattsvenska.fi/
(takes time and some money)
or possibly find out yourself in their premises (not common nowadays, but you can ask).
Then there are some shortcuts, such as
- to search in Brage Pressarkiv http://www.bragespressarkiv.fi/ in Helsinki, They are very helpful and have a lot of newspaper articles (and obituaries/death announcements) of the Swedish-speaking areas of Finland.
