Looking for information on my 6th GGrandfather and 6th GGrandmother. There names were Anders Andersson Ryttare and Brita Boman from Kristinestad,Finland.
I beleive that they had 7 children, but where it becomes confusing for me is that in Hiski the mother for some of the children is listed as Brita Hendriksdotter Liten and for the other children is listed as Brita Boman.I cannot find either.I beleive that my 5th GGrandfather Carlous,b 1738 in Kristinestad kept his mothers name? Does that mean all the children kept the mothers name ? and why? Does that also mean that Anders would have kept the name Boman also? I cannot find any information on the children born to Anders Andersson Ryttare or Brita Boman-Liten. If there is anyone that can help me with this I would really appreicate the help!!!!!!
You can check out the Kristinestad communion books.

Until 1732, there is someone living with Anders and his "hustru" (wife). It could be "moder" (mother). Unfortunately I can't make out the note next to this person.
In 1744-1749 his sons Jacob and Hindrich are listed. In 1750-1755 Carl is added to the list, and in 1756-1761 Johan is listed too.
In 1762-1767 there is a note of Anders including the year 1766. As his last communion is listed in 1766, I believe the note indicates his death. I found Anders Ryttare in the list of deaths for that year:
List of births, marriages and deaths 1722-1774, page ? (http://digi.narc.fi/digi/view.ka?kuid=6972244)
The date listed, January 19, might be the date of his burial, not death; I'm not sure. His age at death is listed as 80, but I wouldn't trust it to be correct. The book contains a lot of ages rounded to the nearest ten, so they are likely to be estimates. I couldn't find Anders' wife listed in the communion books after his death, but she died at age 84 on August 27 1787:
List of birth, marriages and deaths 1774-1830, page ? (http://digi.narc.fi/digi/view.ka?kuid=6980772)
Here her patronym is listed as Mattsdotter, though the mother of Anders' children is listed as Hinricsdotter/Hindersdotter (Henriksdotter). It's kind of hard to believe such an error would be made, but on the other hand, Brita Mattsdotter is said to be "the late Anders Ryttares widow" and there seems to have been only one Anders Ryttare in Kristinestad.
Until 1732, there is someone living with Anders and his "hustru" (wife). It could be "moder" (mother). Unfortunately I can't make out the note next to this person.
"I Herranom afsomnade"
Yes, it was Anders' mother and this note beautifully says that she died.
Here's some information on Anders' and Brita's children:
Jacob, born 1731 (link (http://digi.narc.fi/digi/view.ka?kuid=6972135)). Married Brita Gretha Sundman on November 1 1763 (link (http://digi.narc.fi/digi/view.ka?kuid=6972257)).
Children:
Brigitha Elisabetha, born March 12 1767 (link (http://digi.narc.fi/digi/view.ka?kuid=6972198)).
Andreas, born April 26 1770 (link (http://digi.narc.fi/digi/view.ka?kuid=6972212)).
Johan Jacob, born November 15 1775 (link (http://digi.narc.fi/digi/view.ka?kuid=6980581)).
On the note of Johan Jacob's birth it says his mother was aged 36, which would mean that Brita Sundman was born around 1739.
Henric, born 1732 (link (http://digi.narc.fi/digi/view.ka?kuid=6972232)), died March 12 1788 (link (http://www.sukuhistoria.fi/sshy/kirjat/Kirkonkirjat/kristiinankaupunki/syntyneet-vihityt-kuolleet_1774-1830_uk204-205/204.htm)). He was married to Greta Nordman, born 1742 (link (http://digi.narc.fi/digi/view.ka?kuid=6977172)), but I couldn't find the record of their marriage.
Jacob Boman died on January 9, 1785 and is mentioned as a seaman (link (http://digi.narc.fi/digi/view.ka?kuid=6980770)). Jacob had a daughter, Brigitha Elisabetha, born March 12 1767 (link (http://digi.narc.fi/digi/view.ka?kuid=6972198)), died in 1768 (link (http://digi.narc.fi/digi/view.ka?kuid=6972246)).
His son Johan Jacob died on January 15 1777 (link (http://digi.narc.fi/digi/view.ka?kuid=6980766))
Brita Sundman died on March 2, 1817 (link (http://digi.narc.fi/digi/view.ka?kuid=6980791)).
Margretha (Greta) Nordman died on April 9, 1804 (link (http://digi.narc.fi/digi/view.ka?kuid=6980786))
Henric and Greta's children:
Johan Hindric, born June 21 1763 (link (http://digi.narc.fi/digi/view.ka?kuid=6972187)), died in 1764 (link (http://digi.narc.fi/digi/view.ka?kuid=6972244))
Anna Britha, born December 17 1767 (link (http://digi.narc.fi/digi/view.ka?kuid=6972201))
Rebecca, born January 29 1769 died August 22 1769 (link (http://digi.narc.fi/digi/view.ka?kuid=6972205))
Helena Margaretha, born January 17 1774 (link (http://digi.narc.fi/digi/view.ka?kuid=6980575)).
The birthdates of Anders and Brita likely can't be found, as the church archives of Kristinestad were destroyed in 1716. Source

It really is interesting why Anders and Brita's children were named Boman, seemingly after their mother. In the baptism records, Brita's name is listed as Boman only once. On Jacob's and Maria's records she is Liten, on Henric's, Andreas' and Johannes' she is Henricsdotter and on Britha Lena's and Johan's she is only mentioned as Anders' wife, no name given. However, based on the communion books we know that Jacob, Henric, Carl and Johan were brothers, and that supports the hypothesis that Brita Liten, Boman and Henricsdotter were the same person. "Ryttare" is Swedish for "horse rider", so Ryttare might have been a military name; but those were usually given to the soldier's children too. I'm not familiar with military archives, maybe someone else can give you some pointers on how to check if this hunch is true.
Brita is the only Liten I found in Hiski, but a single woman, Maria Liten, is listed in the godparents of a Hindrick, son of Jacob Boman, born in 1734 (link (http://digi.narc.fi/digi/view.ka?kuid=6972139)). Perhaps this Jacob was uncle to Anders and Brita's children.
More of Anders and Brita's children:
Maria, born 1734 (link (http://digi.narc.fi/digi/view.ka?kuid=6972139))
Andreas, born 1737 (link (http://digi.narc.fi/digi/view.ka?kuid=6972144))
Carolus, born September 15 1738 (link (http://digi.narc.fi/digi/view.ka?kuid=6972147))
Johannes, born January 23 1742 (link (http://digi.narc.fi/digi/view.ka?kuid=6972152))
Britha Lena, born December 12 1744 (link (http://digi.narc.fi/digi/view.ka?kuid=6972233))
Johan, born January 10 1748 (link (http://digi.narc.fi/digi/view.ka?kuid=6972159))
There are two deaths of Anders and Brita's children listed without a name or age; first in 1745 and then in 1748 (link (http://digi.narc.fi/digi/view.ka?kuid=6972231)).
As Andreas isn't listed in the communion books, I suspect he is one of those. Johannes isn't listed in the communion books either, but I found two Johan Bomans who died later:
During the night between November 10 and 11 1776 a storm sunk a ship and one of the drowned was "lad" Johan Andersson Boman (link (http://digi.narc.fi/digi/view.ka?kuid=6980765))
February 15 1788 seaman Johan Boman (link (http://digi.narc.fi/digi/view.ka?kuid=6980774)), his age is listed as 46, which matches Johannes' birth date.
Thanks for all that information,I will look into the military part of it.
I found this about 6 months ago,and saved it,Thought that it could
be Johan Andersson Boman, Its just very sad that my family had such tragic things happen to them.
Even If I do not find anymore information on Brita or Anders,I did in fact add
to my family tree,Thank you for that. Could you tell me if this gives any more information on Johan?

Unfortunately there is no furher information on Johan in that article. Its source on the bit with Johan Boman is the very same church book I referred to.

The first word is Döptes, not Dödföd.
Thank you, it changes the problem.
