Greetings,
I’m looking for additional information on the parentage or background of Nicolaus Petri Roivainen (Roivas) or Idensalmensis. He was the Assistant Vicar of Juva – 1616-1623, Assistant Vicar of Mikkeli in 1617 and the first Clergyman of Iisalmi – 1627-1654. He was appointed the first Clergyman of Iisalmi in 1627 by King Kustaa II, Aadolf who confirmed a commission of appointment by a letter dated February 15, 1627 to the Bishop of Viipuri Olaus Elimaeus. Nicolaus used the letters “W.C.” in his signature which, according to some researchers, references an individual who has gone to school and is from Viipuri. (source: http://www.tervola.fi/KUUSELA/kahkoset_raakkyla.html (http://www.tervola.fi/KUUSELA/kahkoset_raakkyla.html)). Nicolaus was born approximately 1580 in Viipuri/Vyborg and died in 1654 or 1657 in Iisalmi.
I’d be very grateful for any assistance anyone could provide. Kiitos!
Regards,
Pete Dale
