My search is for the parents and grandparents of Maria Karolina NIX.

Information, below, shows that her father's surname was "WICKS".

Was Maria married before she married my Ahlskog relative?

Marianna Karolina NIX also known as Maria/ Marie C. NIX: born on 15 Sep 1877 in Finby, Närpes, Finland ; migrated and entered the USA about 22 Apr 1902; died on 12 Mar 1943 in Vancouver, Washington. Certain Washington records indicate that her father's name was John WICKS - but from Närpes, there are many people with both names so it could be an instance of the father moving from one farm to another during the times when surnames were not strictly adhered to, or perhaps she was married to a NIX prior to marrying AHLSKOG.(?)

Wicks possibly a misheard form of Nix ?

I agree that she is listed as single.

But I have two separate sources that show her father's name as WICKS.

First the record from a man that looks only at actual death certificates and records for what is in them.

Second, from the Washington records, we have this:

So I can see at the records for Ellis Island that she lists she is going to her sister:

Anna Nix, New York.

So, I still want to know who the parents are.

Since she is "Taloll. tr" you should find her with parents from Nix in Närpiö/Närpes. Unfortunately SSHY does not currently have sufficiently fresh rippikirja's available.
