I´m searching for my father´s uncle Kalle Ropponen who left to USA in 1911. He was born on 03.05.1890 in Jappila, Finland. He stayed in Duluth, MN, I have seen a picture of him taken there. Then there is a mark in "Finnish Draft Registrants 1917-1918" by the name Rabbanan Charles from Shoshone County, Idaho, born 23.4.1890 in Joppila,Finland. I´m quite sure this must be him.

We have no other signs from him. Can anyone help me to find out, did he have any family, did he die in war or what happened to him??

In the Border crossings from Canada to USA Kalle Ropponen is indexed as Kalle Rapponen. According to the manifest (image 169, line 15) his last permanent residence was JÄPPILÄ. Even the dots are marked in the manifest. His father's Kalle Ropponen's address is Jäppilä, Tessanala (??), Finland.

The WWI Civilian Draft Registrations states Charles Rabbanan's birthplace as Joppila, Finland. It looks very likely that it should be Jäppilä as well, written there without the dots. There was neither a Joppila nor a Jappila parish in Finland.

Thanks for your answers. I might have been not so exact with my information, so please forgive me By family I meant any children or wife. I know most of these things you told me about my dad´s uncle. I even have a certification here in Finland which says that he was declared dead with no signs of living in 1984 in Jäppilä, and I know most of his relatives here in Finland.
Thanks for information which told to whom he was going there in USA.
I just wonder what happened to him after he got to Shoshone, because there´s no sing of him to my knowledge after that civil registration card.
By the way, this Tessamala is Tossavala in Jäppilä village. My own father was born in Jäppilä too.
